During my time at MANAR LAKTINEH, I was able to identify and experiment with different materials, processes, and techniques within the accessory and fashion design field in Beirut. I gained an incredible hands-on experience that helped me develop my sketching, styling, and soft skills.

I directly handle all things related to the design and choice of fabrics, hardware, and gemstones in order to achieve high-end craftsmanship and luxury products.

My MA work consists of creating my own line of accessories. During semester 1, I was able to conceptualize four designs. During semester 2, I was able to prototype one of them.

By the end of the second semester of my MA,

I was wearing one of my designs.

Research

I took the time to explore influences, speak to practitioners, and conduct market research before conceptualizing my designs. This gave me a broad view of the industry, as well as feasibility, and what would make me unique as a designer.

  • I am very in touch with my Lebanese roots. From music, to architecture, to food and scents, I wanted to encapsulate the Arab feel into my design & branding.

  • Speaking to jewelry designers gave me insights around how to conceptualize ideas, taking materials, influences, and feasibility into account.

  • Developing an understanding of the eyewear industry, as well as other Lebanese brands dominating the market.
